Prayer Gathering
On Thursday, March 26th, at 7:00 pm Emmanuel Baptist in Mount Vernon will be hosting a worship-based prayer event called “The Power of Renewal.”
I have to be honest and admit I am not sure what exactly they mean by all of that, but I know that Emmanuel Baptist is a good church and it is being led by Daniel Henderson of Strategic Renewal Ministries, and he looks pretty cool.
Since my sermon on prayer last Sunday, I have personally wanted to become more “devoted to prayer” (Colossians 4:2), so I will be attending this event and I wanted to invite all of you to join me.

Josh, if women want a prayer group, let me know. I am realizing that my life could get full these days. I may have to put the wound care certification education off a year as my job may require that I put in study time at home.
All the same, when I listened to this morning's sermon on St.Paddy, I was reminded again that we are more effective as we are salt and light when we pray. Not only that, the people we are engaging are more likely to receive, perceive and accept Christ if we are praying for them.
If women want to pray as a group I would like to get together with them. ty

I think a prayer group would be very helpful for me. I am not as committed to all of the types of prayer that Josh outlined in his sermon the previous Sunday and I need to start practicing on a more regular basis praying for others rather than just conversing with God on a daily basis like a parent/friend. At the community group we were talking about how we don't have because we don't ask. I have been thinking about that since that night a week ago and I think that I have some fear in hearing no sometimes so I take the easy way out and just don't ask. So, I would like to join a prayer group if one starts up and I will humbly say that I am not that good at it so please bear with my bumbling through praying out loud in front of others while the butterflies learn to fly in formation.

Michelle, I made mention of my willingness to help with such a group and Josh said I should talk to Jewel, and the other ladies who lead the women's ministry. So I did at the last Ladies' study on Monday nights.
It was mentioned that Prayer was meant to be a major focus of that group.
We are currently reading through a book together, and when that is over it we agreed that we would like to devote every other week to prayer.
I am. as are most, limited on the nights that I can be out and about and besides home group, I don't think I could do more than the Monday night group (and I DO love the Monday night group, wouldn't think of leaving it). But...if the ladies' ministries leaders are okay with it, I could make my own tiny home available Thursday mornings a couple times a months, maybe. (love a reason to clean the place)
My style of prayer certainly isn't fancy. That just isn't what most people I know do. It's just being honest out loud before the Lord. The picture of butterflies flying in formation is fun, I think of it more as a free style dance.
For me, more than anything I like prayer to be an ongoing conversation, sometimes with me it is a bit of an ongoing commentary, with the occasional, "oh, Lord see that , oh Lord pour out your mercy"
The last few years I use the expression "under His mercy", and that is how I pray, "pour out your mercy"
There are times He tells us how to pray. YWAM teaches, or taught, a type of intercession where you cleanse your heart and wait to hear what and how God wants you to pray. I have learned the ask and wait style, and usually it is answered. In fact I used it this morning when I asked what needed to be cleansed from my life...answer came back clear as a bell.
That is the coolest part of prayer, when it is a two way thing. Just think, we have a God who knows our name and shares His heart and mind with us!
But so often for me it is just crying out, "Mercy Lord mercy".
I heard a book read on the radio a couple decades ago. It was called "a Severe Mercy" by Sheldon VanAuklin (sp)
and as his wife was dying of CA,and in pain, he would say,"go under the mercy".
And in the past year there has been much struggle in my life, and I pray to go under the mercy. And that is the best place to be.
And so that is why that word appears in my poetry and prayers so much.
Well, that was fun...gotta get back to work.

Josh introduced me to Jewell ... I think it was about 3 weeks ago now. She told me about the Monday night meetings and told me who to get directions from for the location - can't recall now. So I would love to come. Mondays are open except for the first Monday of the month for 4-H Council (I am serving as secretary until October). I can't do days because I have to work ... necessary evil at the moment.

Just want to give an update here. Since we finished the book "Praying God's Word" Monday nights are going to be specifically for prayer. No books, just prayer. That is up until the retreat at the end of May. I personally have been so blessed by being able to go each week and open up with the other ladies about what's going on in my life and then have time to pray.
The group meets at The Deer Runn Condos and her number is 302. Anyone can call me and get more information. 425-319-5116.
Leeann did you also decide to have people over Thursday morning? I would love to able to pass that info along to women who are interested.
